Entry-level wireless cameras have often meant compromise — choppy live video, unstable connections, and limited resolution were typical characteristics. However, Techson’s latest developments, the TCI EC5 C905 WI AM outdoor bullet camera and the TCI EC5 D905 I AM indoor dome camera, are ready to challenge these stereotypes. When security and freedom meet: Introducing Techson’s WiFi 6 camera family For a long time, there has been an unspoken rule in the world of security technology: if you want a truly reliable system, forget about WiFi and stick to cables.

When Security Meets Freedom: Introducing the Techson WiFi 6 Camera Family

Goodbye cable clutter. Hello WiFi 6.

Imagine a situation where the security of a beautifully renovated family home or a prestigious office needs to be implemented. Chasing walls or installing surface cable ducts afterwards is not only expensive but also an aesthetic nightmare. This is where the greatest advantage of WiFi technology comes into play: freedom.

However, the new EC5 series does not rely on conventional WiFi. These devices utilize the WiFi 6 (802.11ax) standard, meaning they are not limited to the crowded 2.4 GHz band, but can also communicate within the much faster and cleaner 5 GHz spectrum.

In practice, this results in less interference, a more stable data stream, and speeds of up to 150 Mbps. The external antennas ensure that the signal remains reliable even through walls, allowing the 5-megapixel, razor-sharp image to reach the recorder or your smartphone without interruption.

Clear Image, Day and Night

When it comes to resolution, Techson has gone beyond the typical 4-megapixel level. The EC5 WiFi cameras operate at 2880 × 1620 pixels (5 MP), delivering excellent detail. Thanks to the 110° wide viewing angle, a single camera can monitor an entire driveway or a spacious office area without blind spots.

What truly stands out, however, is the handling of challenging lighting conditions. Whether it is direct sunlight streaming through a window or deep shadows, the true 120 dB WDR technology balances the differences, ensuring that faces and license plates remain clearly identifiable.

The 0.007 lux light sensitivity means the cameras are capable of capturing detailed footage even at dusk or during nighttime conditions.

Two Characters, One Common Goal

While the two cameras are nearly identical in capabilities, each model excels in different environments.

  • The Outdoor Guardian – EC5 C905: This robust bullet-style camera with IP67 protection is designed for outdoor deployment and easily withstands rain and harsh weather conditions.
Its standout feature is hybrid illumination. In addition to infrared lighting, it also features a white LED spotlight. This allows the camera to provide full-color images even at night, and when an intruder is detected, the sudden illumination can serve as a powerful deterrent. An additional practical benefit is that it can even replace a dedicated outdoor light in certain scenarios.
  • The Discreet Observer – EC5 D905: The indoor dome design blends elegantly into office or residential environments. Its purpose is reliable, continuous surveillance, supported by infrared illumination with a range of up to 20 meters, ensuring clear visibility even when the lights are turned off.

Intelligence That Doesn’t Get Confused

All cameras in the EC5 series, including the new WiFi models, feature built-in object classification analytics. They are capable of distinguishing between people, vehicles, and two-wheelers.

This ensures that notifications are triggered only when a real event occurs – for example when an unknown person enters the garden or a car drives into the driveway.

Smart Solutions for Installation and Operation

Although these cameras belong to the entry-level category, their capabilities are closer to professional systems.

Thanks to the built-in microphone, users can not only see but also hear events. Recording does not necessarily require an NVR either: with a microSD card of up to 256 GB, the cameras can operate as stand-alone mini recorders, although the advanced features of SmartSpeed recorders will naturally not be available in this configuration.

In line with modern cybersecurity expectations, the cameras use HTTPS encryption for secure communication and also comply with the strict international NDAA regulations.

During installation, only one thing must be considered: WiFi freedom comes at the cost of requiring separate power supply, as these cameras do not support PoE (Power over Ethernet).

A Future-Proof Choice

The Techson EC5 series proves that WiFi-based surveillance is no longer a consumer-grade compromise. Whether protecting a family home, monitoring the entrance of a business, or supervising an office environment, these cameras provide the stability of WiFi 6 combined with 5 MP image quality, meeting the expectations of modern security applications.
